FAQs
WHAT SERVICES DO YOU OFFER?
Somerset Psychological Group treats a wide array of common issues for children, adolescents and adults, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and behavioral problems within family, school and work settings. Our doctors provide individual treatment as well as family and group therapy. We have doctors specializing in forensic services, including evaluations, individual therapy and court testimony. We have providers who are fluent in Spanish, Bengali and Hindi.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
Our fees, which fall within the usual, reasonable and customary charges for mental health doctors in central New Jersey, vary by the type of service provided. We encourage you to speak directly to one of our doctors about fees.
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
No, although our services other than forensic work are generally covered by out-of-network benefits. Payment is due at the time of the visit, following which a superbill suitable to submit to your insurance company can be provided. Reimbursement amounts are determined by your insurer and are sent directly to the policyholder. For questions about coverage, contact your insurer at the toll-free number on the back of your insurance card.
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept payment by cash, check, money order and credit or debit card.
HOW SOON CAN I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?
Each doctor schedules his or her own appointments, so we ask that you contact the doctor directly. We offer appointments as soon as mutually possible.
HOW OFTEN ARE THERAPY SESSIONS AND HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?
The initial assessment lasts an hour. Subsequent appointments generally last 45 to 50 minutes and occur weekly, although other frequencies can often be arranged. The overall duration of treatment varies and depends on a variety of factors which the doctor and patient assess together.
WHAT IF MEDICATION IS NEEDED?
As psychologists, we cannot prescribe medication so we maintain close relationships with various psychiatrists in the area to whom we refer patients when medication may be necessary. With your consent, we consult with the psychiatrist or other professionals involved in your care.
